Both stories is about a group of people that wakes up in a unknown world in the distant future when the normal world of mankind has been long gone.
Both needs to explore the new world and find a way to survive and live in the current world.
Dr. Stone has Doctor in it. Cells at Work are about cells at work. In other words, both have science in it. Yet unlike Magic Schoolbus, they educate you in ANIME STYLE.
Dr. Stone isn't actually about a doctor, more about a mad kid scientist who is plunged into a world of petrification. It's a survival anime, with its protagonist being a nerd. Not only a nerd, but a nerd with spiky hair. With the world plunged into the stone age after thousands of years of petrification, our anime science protagonist seeks to bring the world back to the Science Age as soon as possible.
Cells at Work is just as chaotic, but now you are placed inside the human body. Follow the UPS red blood cell deliverywoman as she faces the chaos within the human body: Viruses, allergies, heat stroke, and even cancer will be shanked by the CIA White Blood Cells in the most brutal ways imaginable. All while giving lessons about how the body works by your friendly neighborhood Tour Guide Narrator.
It was very interesting and educational. As for me - pure fun. Not only the story and how things are going on, but also this symbolic - hidden meanings. I loved the whole look at civilization and important matters like how to build it, there's need a lot of work, not only mental but also physical! (I wonder what work does Europe now..? by the hands of Asia). Also the matter of ruling, Technocracy against authority of young (primitive) and many more... you will all find it here! You can approach it just for fun, but it can also make you think a little. I would say: definitely for everyone. I'm looking for the 2nd season!
This is really a very unique anime, it has everything! Really! It is fun, heart warming, good actions, informative and strong character development. Really, I was amazed the technology that Senku could build from ground up.
Loved it way more than I thought I would. For me, this show just finds this perfect balance of interesting, funny and touching, where every element works just way too perfectly. Yes, I did expect to laugh at at least a few jokes (ended up laughing a lot), NO, I did NOT expect to be on the verge of tears during some emotional moments! And the way some characters pretend hard to not care about anything and anyone, only for the small moments of kindness to prove that they really do, make for some nice heartwarming scenes. It's still a shonen, don't get me wrong, so some shonen-y shenanigans will still ensue, but, thank heavens, it never goes too far with these. Also can't not compliment the artstyle. It fits every moment way too well, while giving birth to some memes along the way... and I don't think I've seen mixed and difficult emotions portrayed on people's faces so well anywhere else. All in all, an objectively good series. Will be waiting for season 2.
What I liked was the idea of the worldbuilding and that "the nature sets everything back the way it is supposed to be". Also it's quite realistic that there are people who want to go "back to the roots" and also people who like the progress in form of inventions etc.
I also like educational anime where you actually learn something or where you might get interested in stuff to read up on it later on.
The animation is nice, the design of the characters and background look awesome and it had some good action. Other than that I had my problems with the characters especially with the MC. I generally like the genius type and sometimes they are a smug and have a reason to be. But this MC is kinda annoying. Add to it the screaming and over-the-top behaviour of some other characters and it get's really annoying at times.
All in all it was fast-paced and entertaining especially if you watch it in small doses.
The premise of all of humanity being turned to stone and the survivors escaping centuries later to find themselves without technology was unique. This anime also reminded me of Cells at Work! as it had lots of educational lessons throughout the series of science. I'll be in the minority, but I had a difficult time getting invested in this series due to Senkuu (main male lead) being smug and cocky all the time when it came to his science ideas. This series is worth a try and if you're ok with the MC, you're enjoy this unique plot.
This series rocks. It boulders down the middle of this story. That's enough puns for now.
There was little wasted time in this series, every action had a purpose and every action had a consequence. I simply cannot fault this series on any major parts.
Series which successfully elicit specific emotions while you watch are series that will succeed; Disgust, heart-break, anger, sadness, joy - these are all things you'l feel as you watch this series, and hopefully let it envelope you.
Very worth the watch. Will be eagerly awaiting season 2.
Dr. Stone was a thrilling ride. This anime was among the best for its airing season. The premise is a roundabout isekai (HEAR ME OUT!!!). The main antagonist is a wiz-kid scientist. The real world gets turned to stone and the MC breaks free from petrification thousands of years later. At which point he becomes one of the smartest people alive in a world that is unlike the world before. He then puts his knowledge to use to bring science back to the world...hence, roundabout isekai. This series was phenomenal. The allure to continue watching to see what next step toward a world lead by science was addicting. With a promise of S2 coming at the end of the last episode I am looking forward to continuing my addiction with Dr. Stone in the near future.
