One Punch Man is quite the eclectic series. It was originally a webcomic created by a renowned Manga Artist who is simply named "One" and who also made Mob Psycho 100. Then, later on, his series was redrawn by Yusuke Murata, the talent behind the legendary football series Eyeshield 21.
The series has tons of references to One's other works, other anime, and just superhero tropes in general. It's an action series, a comedy, and drama piece, and satire all in one, and because of that it would work well in almost any crossover. Though quite frankly, fans would rather have season 3 before a crossover. That said, here are ten franchises that fans would love to see cross over with OPM.
10 Eyeshield 21: Murata's Other Masterpiece
First up is the very same football series mentioned previously, Eyeshield 21. This story about the Devil Bats rise to fame with the help of the speedster Sena is one of the best sports stories of all time, and also one of the most cartoony.
It's a hilarious story with over-the-top action, larger than life characters, and hyper-exaggerated action sequences. Therefore, it matches perfectly up with One Punch Man. Which makes sense, since Murata is the one who drew both of these. Fans would love to see the S-Class Heroes go up against the Deimon Devil Bats and see just how absurd this one-shot football match could really get.
9 Mob Psycho 100: Brains Vs Brawn
There's no doubt about it, Saitama is the strongest living being. He essentially fought against an alien king that could destroy entire worlds in the first season of the show and still didn't really take him seriously. When it comes to physical strength and overall cluelessness, there's no one better than the Caped Baldy, Saitama.
But what about brain over brawn? Well, Shigeo Kageyama who is otherwise known as "Mob" is that ultimate brainpower, though not in a stereotypical way. Rather than school smarts the kid has insane telekinetic abilities. Both of these characters are written by One and both of them are just so surprisingly loveable. There are already a ton of signs that both series take place in the same universe, fans love to compare the two, and everybody just wishes they'd cross over already.
8 My Hero Academia: What A Quirky Matchup
One-Punch Man has a lot of different heroes in it, some good, some pure comedic relief, and some quite insidious. But overall, the way this super society works in OPM is incredibly interesting and something the author desperately needs to go further into. Similarly, My Hero Academia is a story all about different types of heroes in a super society we'd love to know more about.
Obviously the tone and gravity of the two narratives differ greatly, but fans would love to see an episode where Genos comes to speak at UA and Saitama shows up. Or, maybe even the UA kids take a field trip to Z-city and match up against the heroes? Either way, it'd be a blast to watch
7 Hunter X Hunter: Just So Saitama Could Punch A Chimera Ant
Now Hunter X Hunter isn't a show about superheroes, but it is a series about superhumans. Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Hisoka, and all the rest of the gang have elevated themselves past the realm of normal humans thanks to their use of Nen. And in the setting of HxH, that's probably a good thing considering just how many creatures there are out there that prey on humans.
These creatures like Muruem and his Royal Guard make for some of the most intense fights in anime, and also the most dramatic. So what better character to blast in and ruin all dramatic tension then Saitama? He's absolutely someone who would accidentally show up and punch the Chimera Ant King, solving the problem before it even began.
6 Toriko: Oddly Pair Quite Well Together
Speaking of shows that elevate their drama to near astronomical levels, Toriko is another series that doesn't seem like it'll be that serious at first, but the further you read/watch, the more insane it gets. By the time Toriko decides on like three of the items on his "Full Course Menu", the monsters he's fighting are strong enough to tear him in half just by breathing. It's honestly pretty silly, but that's why it would work so well with One Punch Man!
Fans have already seen Goku, Toriko, and Luffy fighting monsters together, but what about Toriko and Saitama taking on one of the Eight Kings just so Saitama can stockpile meat in his freezer and save a bit of money? Go ahead and try and say that wouldn't be awesome.
5 The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious: Like Water And Oil
There aren't too many high-quality comedy anime out there. Sure, Cromartie High, Konosuba, and Saiki K are some of the greats, but what about something more recent? Well, Cautious Hero happens to fall in that category as well and it also has a relatively similar comedic style to One Punch Man.
So, with that in mind, it's reasonable to think they'd go together quite well in a crossover. Maybe Saitama is temporarily transported to Seiya's world, or vice-versa. Either way, we can easily imagine the dynamic between the two as Saitama's Laissez-faire approach to life would grate quite horribly up against Seiya's diehard cautiousness. Not the best crossover, but definitely one with a lot of comedic potential.
4 The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: A Bit More Disastrous With Saitama In It
And here we have our other comedic inclusion for this list, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is another story about another empath who constantly runs into comedic situations much like Mob Psycho 100.
While a crossover between OPM and MP100 seems like a given, this would easily work as a backup especially considering how popular Saiki K is. Their comedic styles are a bit different, but it's easy to see them blending if need be in a crossover. Plus, it's also easy to see how Kusuo and Saitama would argue, and the damage such an argument would cause.
3 Dragon Ball Z Super
This crossover is about as obvious as saying Marvel and DC should crossover, but it still needs to be said. As mentioned earlier, Saitama has already fought against beings nearing Goku's level, but that was before Super.
Now, it's not quite certain who would come out on top, and a crossover episode would be a perfect way to answer that. Or, they could completely subvert all expectations and simply do an episode where the two casts hang out together and hilarity ensues. Frankly, the downtime episodes are one of the best parts of DBZ Super so it's likely think they'd handle it quite well.
2 Naruto, Shippuden, Or Boruto: Ninjas Fighting Superheroes
So there's Saitama, a pure "strength" character. We've talked about him facing up with a pure "intelligence" character like Mob or Saiki K, or even another "strength" fighter like Goku. But, what about magic? Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden and Boruto would all work for a crossover between the two shows.
Though Shippuden would be best out of the three so Saitama isn't hanging out with a bunch of little kids. Still, a fight between him and Hokage Naruto at his prime would be something to see, and fans would love to see how he reacts and fights back against the art of Ninjutsu.
1 Devilman Crybaby: A Dark World Lit Up By Saitama's Shiny Head
And lastly, let's drop Saitama and Genos into a bit of a darker world. One that isn't filled with the personifications of Mother Nature's wrath against people who litter or Giant Crab people who transformed because of their crustacean-filled diets. No, let's take a look at a potential crossover between OPM and Devilman Crybaby.
Who wouldn't want to see Saitama drawn in the same style as the Netflix adaptation of DCB or even its original manga style? But, more than that, fans would love to see these two overpowered goofballs fighting together against Satan's cronies, even if it probably wouldn't end well for them.
