There's nothing quite like scoring a fluky goal, and nothing quite as frustrating as when your team concede one, just ask Brighton fans.
Their side were looking pretty comfortable against Newcastle on Tuesday night, and were poised to go four points clear at the top of the Championship.
Yet a freak goal from Mohamed Diame gave the Magpies a lifeline in the game, and they went on to gain all three points.
So in recognition of the strange and wonderful things that can happen on a football pitch, here's a list of eight of the flukiest goals in football history.
1. Andreas Brehme vs England (1990)
Something most England fans (of a certain age anyway) will never forget.
The Three Lions were enjoying their best World Cup campaign since 1966, with many believing they could go all the way in Italy.
Yet they faced West Germany in the semi-final, and it was Andreas Brehme who opened the scoring with an incredible free kick.
Brehme's driven blast was blocked by Paul Parker, and the ball seemed to hang in the air for an eternity, before looping into the smallest of gaps between the crossbar and Peter Shilton.
England ultimately crashed out of the tournament on penalties after a Gary Lineker equaliser and a few infamous tears from Gazza.
2. Stan Collymore vs Blackburn (1996)
It's always great to see a goalkeeper being beaten by a moment of absolute madness (well unless you are a goalkeeper).
And Collymore's strike against Tim Flowers in 1996 is a perfect example of that.
In a throw back to a forgotten era, when every blade of grass didn't sit at the perfect angle, and mud was still a regular occurrence in England's top flight, Tim Flowers was the unfortunate recipient of this calamitous moment.
Collymore's strike from well outside the box, looked like it was barely going to reach the Blackburn goal, with Flowers poised to easily collect the ball.
Yet unfortunately for the Rovers keeper, the ball struck a piece of turf, spun up in the air and over Flowers into the back of net.
3. Luka Modric vs Wigan (2009)
Before Modric was a classy and sophisticated Galactico, he managed the odd scruffy goal from Tottenham.
In an FA Cup tie against Wigan in January 2009, the Croat even managed a rare header.
A Jamie O'Hara (remember he used to play football?) shot hit the post, leaving Wigan goalkeeper Richard Kingson beaten.
Modric was rushing in to collect the rebound, when he slipped in the middle of the goal.
Luckily the ball fell right into his path, smacking the midfielder in the head, and before he knew what had happened it had nestled in the bottom corner.
4. Cristiano Ronaldo vs North Korea (2010)
See, not all his goals are 30-yard free kicks.
In the 2010 World Cup, Ronaldo managed to skilfully trap the ball on his head before slotting it into the empty goal, the only problem is he didn't actually know where the ball was.
Ronaldo was one-on-one with the North Korean goalkeeper, and managed to chip the ball over him, before the keeper's challenge threw Ronaldo off balance.
The ball flicked up in to the air, smacked the former United winger on the back of the head and landed at a very confused, Ronaldo's feet.
From there, well you know Cristiano, he duly tucked the ball into the back of net.
5. Javier Hernandez vs Chelsea (2010)
'Chicharito' showed early on in his United days that he could score with any part of his body.
The Mexican had come on at half time for his United debut in the 2010 Community Shield and notched himself a goal.
Antonio Valencia crossed the ball for an unmarked Hernandez in the Chelsea six yard box.
Yet United's new recruit seemed to lose his footing just as the ball came to him, and managed an unclean touch which forced the ball up in the air.
Yet instead of flying over the Chelsea crossbar, the shot accidentally smacked Hernandez in full in the face and found its way into the back of the net. What a first way to make a first impression.
6. Tim Howard vs Bolton (2012)
Every goalkeeper's worst nightmare, conceding to a fellow keeper.
Well that's exactly what happened in 2012, when Tim Howard managed to beat Bolton's Adam Bogdan from 100 yards out.
A Sylvan Distin back pass forced Howard into a rushed clearance. The ball simply got caught in the wind, and beat all the outfield players, bouncing just outside the box and landing in the Bolton goal.
Howard was even to amazed, and gracious to celebrate.
7. Frank Lampard vs New England Revolution (2016)
A man renowned for being in the right place at the right time showed us once last glimpse of that against New England Revolution last year.
With the ball near the touchline in the New England box, Lampard readied himself for the cross and potential tap in.
Yet the ball was whipped in at speed, and at knee height.
The former Chelsea man had no time to react, but it didn't matter as the ball struck Lampard's knee and somehow ended up in the goal anyway.
8. Jack Mahoney vs Guernsey (2016)
Leaving arguably the best to last, is a goal you most probably haven't seen before.
The game should have been remembered for being the first ever FA Cup tie played in the Channel Islands. Yet instead it was Jack Mahoney's goal that everyone was talking about after.
Around the midway point in the first half, Thamesmead’s Scott Kinch decided to drill a ambitious 40-yard shot at the Guernsey keeper.
The ball seemed distance to land nearer England than the net, but having got held up in the wind, landed on the Guernsey crossbar.
Mahoney was waiting in the box to nod in one of the most peculiar goals in FA Cup history. Definitely worth a search online if you haven't seen it.
After Mohamed Diame's bizarre goal against Brighton on Tuesday night, here's a list of eight fluky goals.
